July 25 marked a special milestone in the lives of the graduating students. This was the day that their futures seemed closer and their careers are just one application form away. The University Fair, an annual activity of the guidance department, as part of their career guidance program, was held and was participated by all the seniors. Ten colleges graced the event and graciously entertained the unending queries of the interested students. Almost all seemed excited and enthusiastic in asking questions pertinent to the fields they had their eyes on.
Almost every participating university employed their own tactics to attract the attention of the students - from video games, on-the-spot digital sketching, colorful and catchy standees, to the eye-catching female representatives. These somehow broadened the perspectives of the seniors in considering schools where they will be taking up college in and not limit themselves to the popular and more commercialized ones.
As one student said: "It's like shopping for schools". Indeed. Without the paying part.
After the hour-long event, the seniors went back to their classrooms with answered questions, smiles on their faces and a handful of freebies.
With all these in mind, Day 2 (Aug 22) will have big shoes to fill. (The see the list of participating schools, click here.)
