Inspirational Talk-Mr. Teofilo C. Isaac Jr. (SOL President SOL ‘89)
Here is what Mr. Candelaria, one of the participants, have to say about the event:
"Last month, the
grade 9-regular and third year students experienced a talk by some Alumni of
Lourdes School of Mandaluyong who came from different fields of professions. We
heard different experiences from the invited speakers. I was inspired and
motivated by the speakers but there was one speaker who caught my attention –
Mr. Carlos Edwin Aguilar, the speaker who represented the Hospitality Industry.
He worked in hotels because the only thing he wanted after graduating is a job
that will make him wear a suit every day in order to look presentable and
ravishing every day of his life. Aside from that, the best thing about his job
is that he gets to see the smiles on the people that he has helped. There’s this one experience that he shared
with us and that was when he made a married couple very happy because of a very
heart-melting photo that his crew took. The married couple thanked him because
that simple gesture. This story touched my heart and made me appreciate the
speaker because he’s very funny, nice and evidently selfless. He will do
everything he can just to make sure that his customers are pleased not just in
the outside but especially in the inside. “Follow your heart” is what I have
learned after this speaker shared his experiences. If we follow our heart, we
might end up in the condition that we want. The saying does not only apply to
one’s daily life but it is also relates to choosing a course in college and the
career that we want to end up with. Because of this speaker, I realized that I
should be more selfless and be of service to others.
The
speakers surely inspired me and I think the other participants felt the same
way. One of the things that I kept in mind was that I should love my job and
know how to be happy in my chosen career. In the future, I look forward to
speaking in front of future generations of Lourdesians and I will be sharing
experiences about my career and profession. I will be giving tips and insights
on how to choose and enjoy one’s career as much as my mentioned speaker did
during my time. If LSM conducts a career symposium in the future, I promise to
speak in front of my Alma mater and share my favourite experiences in LSM. I
appreciated the fact that all of the speakers never forgot their second home,
their alma mater. Lastly, as a true Lourdesian, never forget to be selfless,
humble and happy. Thank you and Pax et Bonum."
